ARIS AZARMSA
Aris Azarmsa (b. 1997, California) is a painter currently based in New York.
He graduated with a BFA from Pratt Institute in 2019.
Azarmsa’s work is a reflection of, and live in the canon of American post modern painting, they exist on survival, and grasp at extending and continuing the tradition of the medium of oil painting. His paintings live somewhere in the in between, they are part figurative, part abstract, and part insanity.
At first glance, they cast a complex barrage of demanding imagery that nearly comes off abstract, their immediate attack of the senses nearly knocks us backwards; but as our eyes adjust slowly they come to life offering an overview into an entire storytelling of movies. Our mind receives the puzzle and begins to dissect it, the results of which seem never ending.
Azarmsa was featured in a group exhibition at New Release Gallery in 2021, NADA NY with Swivel Gallery in 2023, and presented his first solo exhibition at Swivel Gallery in February 2022.
Azarmsa is represented by Swivel Gallery.
